Uniquely situated on the east end of the Bolivar Peninsula
Welcome to our Community Website
Canal City is one of the oldest and most established subdivisions on Bolivar Peninsula on the Texas Gulf Coast, with direct beach and bay access, a mild coastal climate, beautiful ocean views, and beautiful canals. Canal City is bordered on the south by HWY 87, the main artery for the peninsula, and on the north by the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and East Bay in Galveston Bay beyond. A 368-acre wildlife preserve is to the west and the Cade Ranch and town of High Island is to the east. Canal City also has three one-mile long canals connecting to the ICW which empties into Galveston Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico beyond. The canals provide each lot private access to the ICW, and the bay system for fishing, boating, birding and more. One way Canal City property owners invest in the community, is by having work days, which are not only to help offset cost for projects, but to have an opportunity to get together and have fellowship. There are many more opportunities in the works for future projects. While Hurricane Ike devastated the Peninsula and destroyed the homes in Canal City, the property owners spirit and love for our community remains. |
